Guangzhou, Nov. Xinhua News Agency, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) — China’s first domestically produced jumbo jet, the C919, soared in the sky, with a roar from its two roaring engines. The impressive outing was the aircraft’s public appearance at the 2022 Airshow China.
The six-day event, also known as the 14th China International Aerospace Exhibition, wrapped up on Sunday in Zhuhai, a port city in southern China’s Guangdong province.
Since its establishment in 1996, Airshow China has become an important window to display advanced aerospace technology and equipment at home and abroad. It has also become an international platform for promoting business cooperation in aerospace technology and equipment.

During the event, China showcased a range of new aircraft, a life-size replica of China’s orbiting Tiangong space station, and a range of unmanned equipment.
At the air show, COMAC, the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China Ltd., won new orders for 300 C919 passenger aircraft from seven domestic leasing companies including CDB Leasing and ICBC Leasing.
In late September, C919 obtained the type certificate from the Civil Aviation Administration of China, a big step towards market-oriented operation.

The C919 has a maximum range of more than 5,000 kilometers, covering major domestic routes and carrying up to 192 passengers.
Another aircraft that made its debut at the air show was the AG600M, a large-scale amphibious firefighting aircraft independently developed by China, code-named “Kunlong”, which means “water dragon” in Chinese.
The maximum water storage capacity of Kunlong is 12 tons. After an air show at the exhibition center, it performed a water drop demonstration, which drew cheers and applause from the crowd.

Zhang Xiaodong, general manager of China SiD Surveying and Mapping Technology Co., Ltd., said during the air show that it will complete its next-generation commercial remote sensing satellite system between 2022 and 2025.
The commercial remote sensing satellite system has 28 satellites with various payloads. The company has completed the construction of four satellites for the system and has begun to provide customers with timely, efficient and high-performance spatiotemporal information services.

According to Airbus’ market forecast, the average annual growth rate of China’s air transport over the next 20 years will reach 5.3%, higher than the global average of 3.6%.
“China’s development has driven the explosive growth of aviation demand, and the continuous strengthening of aviation infrastructure has made it possible for aviation to travel to China’s vast central and western regions,” said Xu Zhiming, CEO of Airbus China.
On Wednesday, Airbus began production of the A321 at its Asian final assembly line plant in Tianjin, northern China.
