Alabama scores on Ole Miss, takeaway: No. 9 The 11 Rebels Behind Bryce Young’s Three TDs for Tide Survival

Do not. 9 Alabama moved to the top of the table from a 10-point deficit in the second half. 11 Ole Miss 30-24 in a key SEC West matchup Saturday afternoon in Oxford, Mississippi. Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart missed Jonathan Mingo in the fourth and 16th line of the 20-yard line, essentially ending the game and losing the first three games to head coach Nick Saban’s team. Two games later, giving the Crimson Tide a much-needed win.

Alabama’s Will Richard kicked a 49-yard field goal with 2:02 left to give the visitors a six-point lead that proved important as it forced Ole Miss in less than one game. Minutes to try for a touchdown in the red zone instead of giving the Rebels a chance to score a field goal to force overtime.

Reichard’s 23-yard field goal ended with 11:19 left to break the tie 27-24. It was behind an eight-game 44-yard drive after an Ole Miss punt. Running back Jase McClellan had four advances for 35 yards after taking over for the ineffective Jahmyr Gibbs as Alabama’s primary rusher.

Alabama QB Bryce Young tied the game late in the third quarter when he found Jacory Brooks for a 5-yard touchdown behind the paint. It completed a 14-game, 75-yard drive that Coach Saban’s team desperately needed after facing 59 games with a defense in the first two quarters.

After the Rebels nearly controlled the first three quarters, the Tide won. True freshman Qinshon Judkins had two touchdowns in the first half, giving him 15 for the season — an Ole Miss single-season record. His second touchdown — a 1-yard drop with 5:09 left in the second quarter — gave the Rebels a 17-7 lead.
