Biden vows to ‘liberate Iran’ in West Coast campaign speech

OCEANIA, Calif., Nov 3 (Reuters) – U.S. President Joe Biden vowed on Thursday to “liberate” Iran, saying protesters opposed to the country’s government would soon succeed in liberating themselves.

“Don’t worry, we will liberate Iran. They will liberate themselves soon,” Biden said in a wide-ranging campaign speech in California, as dozens of demonstrators gathered outside holding banners supporting Iranian protesters .

Biden did not elaborate on his remarks or what additional actions he would take when he speaks at Mira Costa College near San Diego.

The White House National Security Council did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
