Cucina Paradiso celebrates its 27th anniversary

This October, Oak Park’s Cucina Paradiso is celebrating its 27th birthday — no small feat in the restaurant world. The key to Cucina’s success? Great food and a great community.

Owner Anthony Gambino said the anniversary was truly something to be proud of. “It’s a story in itself that a restaurant can thrive for so long, and we have a real sense of accomplishment and gratitude for our customers.”

Gambino attributes much of the restaurant’s success to Oak Park. He treasures his location and likes to be considered a true neighborhood restaurant. Over the years, he has seen his clients grow. Parents dine at Cucina Paradiso with young children who are now adults with their own children.

“They go above and beyond the customers,” Gambino said, “they are family. “Our employees recognize the regulars. We know what they want to eat, drink and where their favorite table is. “

Gambino has made his restaurant an integral part of the Oak Park community from the start. By hosting benefits and events for local charities and serving food that keeps customers coming back again and again. Gambino noted that Cucina Paradiso’s focus has always been on fresh, innovative food. The menu changes slightly every few weeks and the food selection changes with the seasons.

Cucina Paradiso keeps tables full by balancing old dishes with innovative new ones. With core dishes such as customer favorites Bolognese and Chicken with Pistachio on the menu from the start, Gambino is committed to introducing new contemporary dishes that reflect the seasonal and changing tastes of customers. Expect to find dishes like Pumpkin Ravioli with Brown Butter White Wine Sauce, Crispy Sage, and Orecchiette Calabrese with Chili, Sausage, and Pesto on the Chef’s Specials menu. These appealing specials join the timeless repertoire of classic Cucina Paradiso creations such as Shell Country, Chicken with Pistachios and Pizza San Gennaro.

Raising a glass in Cucina Paradiso’s birthday toast is an easy task. The well-stocked bar has a cocktail list that includes old-fashioned blackberries, Sazerac and Hemingway’s Daiquiri. A wide selection of martinis, including classic gins and vodkas, as well as innovative products like Firefly made with sweet tea vodka, lemonade, black tea and fresh lemon juice.

Looking ahead, Gambino promises that Cucina will continue to grow, with an eye toward future restaurant updates and menu changes, but one thing will never change: Cucina Paradiso will always be a hometown favorite for authentic Italian food.
