Fire engulfs businesses, destroys buildings near Glencoe

GALLATIN COUNTY, Kentucky (WXIX) – A catastrophic fire ravaged a business in Northern Kentucky Sunday night.

Sometime Sunday night, the fire broke out at FCI Interior Woodworks on US-42 about five miles north of Glencoe.

Firefighters from the Glencoe Fire Department and Gallatin County Fire Department arrived to find the building completely engulfed in flames, with smoke billowing from the interior.

According to a Glencoe Fire spokesman, there were no fire hydrants in the area, so crews used a “tank truck shuttle operation”.

Five tankers shuttled through more than 100,000 gallons of water.

“The business has suffered irreparable damage, a total loss,” the spokesman said.

The New Liberty Fire Department and the Verona Fire Department also responded.

Glencoe FD neither reported nor definitively ruled out the possibility of injury.

The fire is still under investigation.
