GE HealthCare hires ex-Amazon and FDA execs to oversee tech operations

GE HealthCare announced that a well-known medical technology leader is bringing skills refined at Amazon, the FDA and the CDC to GE HealthCare as the first Chief Technology Officer of the new independent company. 5.

Taha Kass-Hout, MD, MS, cardiologist, biostatistician and informatician, comes to GE HealthCare from Amazon and AWS, where his titles include chief medical officer and vice president of machine learning.

As CTO, Kass-Hout will report to Peter Arduini, GE HealthCare President and CEO, and will focus on leading and building the company’s new “D3” strategy.

The healthcare giant defines it as “emphasizing the framework of the company’s smart devices and digital products, aligned with the disease state and enabled by digital technology” to facilitate precision care.
