Paris-(Business Wire)–Regulatory news:
Air Liquide (Paris: AI), through Air Liquide Engineering & Construction, actively uses its complete portfolio of innovative technology solutions to support the decarbonization of its industrial customers. Autothermal reforming (ATR) is one of the most recently utilized technologies that, combined with carbon capture, allow for the efficient production of large-scale, low-carbon hydrogen and ammonia. As one of the leading companies in ATR, Air Liquide’s technology has been selected for Japan’s first demonstration project, owned and operated by INPEX CORPORATION, to produce low-carbon hydrogen and ammonia.
While there are other proven solutions on the market today, such as steam methane reforming with carbon capture, ATR is one of the most suitable options for a specific larger-scale low-carbon hydrogen production facility. When ATR is combined with carbon capture technology, customers can achieve higher energy efficiency, lower investment and simplified single-train production processes to facilitate up to 99% carbon capture in highly integrated industrial facilities.
Air Liquide is one of the leading companies in the field of autothermal reforming, with know-how in the ATR process for large-scale syngas production applications. Air Liquide Engineering & Construction will now provide low-carbon hydrogen and ammonia production technology for a pilot project owned and operated by Japanese oil and gas exploration and production company INPEX CORPORATION. ATR will be part of the development Kashiwazaki Clean Hydrogen Ammonia Project In the Hirai area of Kashiwazaki City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan. The entire project will be the first demonstration project in Japan that combines low-carbon hydrogen and ammonia production with carbon capture.
Michael J. Graff, Executive Vice President of Air Liquide Group said: “Air Liquide’s expertise in providing customers with efficient, reliable, innovative technologies and solutions is at the core of our ambition to support industrial decarbonisation. We are delighted to partner with INPEX CORPORATION and to be the first demonstration low-carbon One of the contributors to the development of hydrocarbon and ammonia projects.”
