Actress Kirstie Alley dies after short battle with cancer, her children True and Lillie Parker announce her death social media.
She is 71 years old.
“We regret to inform you that our incredible, fierce and loving mother has passed away after battling cancer, which was only recently discovered,” the statement read.
“She was surrounded by her closest family and fought with might, giving us the assurance that she will always have the joys of life, no matter what adventures lie ahead,” the family’s statement continued. “As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother.”

“Our mother’s zest and enthusiasm for life, her children, grandchildren and her many animals, not to mention her undying joy of creating, is unparalleled and inspires us to live life to the fullest as she did ,” the statement said.

Alley’s representative, Donovan Daughtry, also confirmed to CNN via email that the actress had died.
A two-time Primetime Emmy Award winner, Alley starred opposite Ted Danson in the second half of the TV classic sitcom “Cheers,” which premiered in 1982. Alley debuted in 1987, playing strong and independent bar manager Rebecca Howe, and continued with the show until its conclusion in 1993.
She had another TV success in the late ’90s with “Veronica’s Closet,” which earned her another Emmy nomination.
A talented comedic actress, Allie also courted controversy through reality television and social media, starring in several memorable films, including 1990’s Asylum and 1982’s Star Trek: After Khan. angry”.
