A local Loveland business owner shares her interest in baking with the community.
Cynthia Newt is the owner of Cyd’s C-Rollers, a cinnamon roll baking business she’s been running for nearly two years.
Cynthia Newt, who used to work at Johnson’s Corner in Johnstown, said she became interested in making her own bread during the pandemic, an interest that prompted her to make her own cinnamon rolls.
But after being fired, she decided to go all-in on her new business.
“I (think) my chances are better if I do this,” she said. “That’s how it happened.”
When she starts in February 2021, she will sell cinnamon rolls or C-Rollers in front of the store on weekends, trying to get people interested in her product, she said. She prints a homemade sign and sells it to anyone looking for a delicious treat.
“I was so excited when she started,” says Cynthia’s husband, Brian Newt. “I support her 100 percent.”
Brian also helped her make her first molds to create the signature heart shape into which the C-rollers were baked.
Eventually, she started visiting different businesses to sell her cinnamon rolls to employees in town. She said it went well because she built a loyal following of sweet fans.
“Some people buy from me religiously and get mad if I don’t show up,” she said with a laugh.
Now, Newt makes her signature heart-shaped cinnamon rolls at Artisans Kitchen in downtown Loveland, and sells them to customers online or at local businesses. Newt spends several nights a week baking her cinnamon rolls with “the highest quality ingredients,” making about 150 rolls at a time.
But, she says her heart-shaped treats are more than just the shape of love.
“I have so much love for them,” she says of what makes her C-Rollers unique. “Frankly, I’m very lucky, I just thank God I can do it, people want to eat them. I never thought I would get this kind of reaction.”
