Mega Millions hits $494 million jackpot, tickets sold in California and Florida

Jackpot!

Two lucky lottery ticket holders from California and Florida picked the right numbers to win a massive $494 million jackpot in Friday’s draw.

The winning numbers are: 9, 22, 26, 41 and 44, while the Mega Ball is 19.

A winning Mega Millions ticket was sold at a 7-Eleven in San Jose, California, according to the California Lottery website.

A second ticket is also on sale at 7-Eleven in Fort Myers, according to WFLA. The winner has yet to be determined.

Each ticketholder can choose between a $247.9 million bonus or roughly $123.9 million in cash options.

Only a handful of states across the country allow jackpot winners to remain anonymous.

According to the state’s website, Californians and Floridians are required by law to provide their names, city of residence, games they won, when they won and how much they won.

The other three winners, from New Jersey, North Carolina and Texas, just missed out on Superball. They will receive a consolation prize of $1 million.

The last Mega Millions jackpot winner was in July, during a national $1.337 billion jackpot mania, which was won by an anonymous ticketholder in Des Plaines, Illinois.

Those who lose the Mega Millions lottery can still become millionaires.

Powerball lottery jackpot hits $454 million mark. Before Saturday’s draw, the cash value of the jackpot was $232.6 million.
