The Association of American Broadcasters is now nominating for its 2023 NAB Technology Awards, which will be presented at the NAB Show in Las Vegas next spring.
Two Engineering Achievement Awards are presented each year to recognize outstanding achievements in the radio and television broadcasting industry. These awards have been presented since 1959. Winners include such radio engineering luminaries as John A. Moseley, Carl E. Smith, Jules Cohen, Hilmer Swanson, George Marti, Charlie Morgan, Arno Meyer, Louis A. King and his son Tom, among many others.
Last year’s radio winner was Xperi’s Ashruf El-Dinary (read our introductory story, which includes a full list of past radio winners). The television receiver is Peter Sockett of Capitol Broadcasting Co.
The NAB Digital Leadership Awards recognize a station, group or network who have played a significant role in transforming a traditional broadcast business into a measurable success on a digital media platform. Last year’s winner was Jeremy Sinon, vice president of digital strategy at Hubbard Radio.
The Technology Innovation Award is presented to organizations conducting advanced research and development projects in the field of communication technologies. The technology had to demonstrate significant benefits, was on display at the NAB show and is not yet commercially available. The most recent winner was Advanced Image Robotics for demonstrating the AIR One cloud-native remote camera control and video production platform.
The deadline for nominations is Monday, January. September 2023. Find information and forms at nab.org/events/awards.
