NFP makes key appointments for North American operations

As Head of Project Risk Consulting, Canning will focus on delivering a range of insurance and analytical tools to support risk management strategies for North American construction and infrastructure projects. He will work with Chris Smith, NFP’s senior vice president and head of project risk, and they will drive connectivity across the value chain of NFP’s construction projects, a press release said.

“We are delighted that Andrew is joining NFP’s professional practice,” said Chris Smith. “He has more than 30 years of experience and a strong reputation as a leader who drives innovation and provides clients with holistic and well-structured solutions.”

Canning joins NFP from Marsh, where he was Managing Director of the firm’s construction team. He also served as Senior Vice President of Aon Risk Services, providing expertise on domestic and international construction projects. Canning also held leadership positions at Amoco, Near North Insurance Brokerage and Wrapid Specialty.

“As stakeholders face increasing complexity in the world of buildings and infrastructure—whether it’s inflation, supply chains, ESG, or technological transformation—NFP is developing innovative tools and solutions to address these issues,” NFP Architecture and infrastructure general manager David Bowcott said. “We are investing in people and building an elite project venture advisory and brokerage team to help clients navigate the high volume of North American construction projects that will flow in the coming years.”

Last month, NFP announced a partnership with Petline Insurance Company. Through the partnership, NFP can offer its customers in Canada pet health insurance from Petline – the pet health insurance subsidiary of Definity Insurance.
