Bruce H. Lee, president and chief executive officer of the Silver Spring-based Lee Development Group, passed away in December. He was 58 after a failed battle with pancreatic cancer at 19.
Bruce H. Lee, president and chief executive officer of the Silver Spring, Maryland-based Lee Development Group, passed away in December. 19 after losing its battle with pancreatic cancer, company officials said.

Li is 58 years old.
Lee joined the Lee Development Group in 1986 and became CEO of the family business in 2005. Lee Development Group was founded in 1930 by his grandfather.
The redevelopment of a former department store into world-class performance venue The Fillmore, which opened opposite the Silver Theatre, in 2012, is one of Lee’s high-profile projects.
LDG’s current projects include the 16-story Elizabeth Square complex on company-owned land in downtown Silver Spring. Lee partnered with Montgomery County and the Housing Opportunity Commission on the project, which will provide Silver Spring with new affordable housing when it opens next year, as well as a medical facility and a public aquatics center.
Lee has an executive MBA from American University and is an avid sailor and golfer.
He served as the first president of the Greater Silver Spring Chamber of Commerce in 1993 and chaired the Silver Spring Downtown Advisory Council from 1991 to 1993. He also serves on the Board of Directors of EagleBank and serves on the Economic Development Committee of the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce.
He was inducted into the Montgomery County Business Hall of Fame in 2018.
Lee leaves behind his wife Sarah. son, Thomas; and sister Evelyn. Another son, Andrew, died in 2019 after founding Driven to Cure, a nonprofit anti-cancer foundation dedicated to rare cancer research.
