Senator George Borello and Congressman Andy Goodell receive prestigious accolades
JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — Senator George Borrello of New York and Congressman Andy Goodell have each received the Small Business Guardian Award from the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization.
The Guardian Award is the highest honor the NFIB bestows on state legislators. It is reserved for lawmakers who vote 100 percent of the time with small businesses on key NFIB issues during the 2021-2022 legislative session.
“Our small businesses are truly the lifeblood of our state’s economy, employing more than half of New York’s workforce and greatly enriching the quality of life in our communities,” the senator said. George Borrero.
“As a small business owner myself, this award is very meaningful. One of the reasons I first entered public service was to give a voice to small business owners who are often overlooked and burdened by Albany’s taxes and regulations. Can be proud of the attention and results some of these issues have brought, but there is still a lot of work to be done to improve the state’s support and environment for small businesses,” he added.
“I congratulate my friend and colleague Senator Andy Goodell, who has also been recognized. We have worked together on many small business issues and supported the many local businesses we all represent,” the senator said. Borello said.
“We are not ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, but I am delighted and honored that Senator Borello and I have received the ‘Guardians of Small Business’ award from the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB). We will continue to do our best to help us of small businesses that provide great products, great services, and employ so many residents.” Assemblyman Andy Goodell said.
“I want to thank the NFIB for this great honor and for their unwavering advocacy on behalf of New York’s small businesses. We still have a lot of work to do, and I look forward to working alongside my NFIB members,” Senator Borello concluded.
For more than 75 years, NFIB has been advocating on behalf of small and independent business owners in Washington, D.C. and all 50 state capitals. NFIB is non-profit, nonpartisan and membership driven. Since its inception in 1943, the NFIB has focused on small and independent businesses and remains so today.
