rock spring — Chad Banks, Rock Springs Urban Renewal Agency/Main Street Manager, who recently received an Innovation Award from the Wyoming Business Council (WBC).
Banksy has been recognized by the WBC for his ongoing work on creative placemaking projects and public/private partnerships. Banksy was nominated by the Rock Springs URA/Main Street Board of Directors.
Some of these placemaking projects include summer monsters and winter snowman projects. Both are public/private partnerships as they involve the city of Iwaizumi, but are funded entirely through grants and sponsorships, mostly privately. These are important due to budget constraints, Banks explained. These partnerships, including grants and sponsors, allow the city to expand its capabilities beyond standard budgets without increasing costs to taxpayers.

“It allows us to be creative and carry out innovative projects for the community that enhance our downtown and our community,” he said.
“It’s always great to be recognized by your peers and bring recognition to Rock Springs,” Banks said. “I think this award raises the profile of Rock Springs across the state. We all know that sometimes Rock Springs gets under the eyes of others. Positive things like this award and other positive news show that our community is not just It’s the preconceived notion that others in Wyoming have about us. It also validates the work of the URA/Main Street Commission on improving downtown.”
