Spartan Construction of Burlington celebrates its 40th anniversary.
The construction firm, led by Fort Mitchell’s Dianne Brossart, has 30 employees and contributes to safe, durable infrastructure in more than a dozen states.
The family-owned business supports connectivity and community development through road and airport projects, utility and pipeline work, and even work on racetracks.

Forty years ago, Diane was a pioneer in the construction industry, head of a road contracting company. According to Darcy Associates, even today only 14 percent of construction executives in the U.S. are women.
Spartan has decades of top-level accomplishments to celebrate. In 1998, Spartan was recognized as one of the top 300 US federal highway contractors. Year 1999, architectural abstracts Recognizes Spartan’s success as part of the team that rebuilt Kentucky Route 9 10 months ahead of schedule, transforming a landslide-prone road into a stable five-lane highway.
“This anniversary is really a celebration for our team,” Brossart said. “Spartan’s talented and dedicated employees rise to the challenge with progress and help move the industry forward,” she said.
Over the years, Spartan employees have contributed to the modernization of regulations used by Departments of Transportation across the country, from drainage to inspections. Spartan team members are actively involved in security efforts such as Kentucky 811.
“As we move forward, Spartan is innovating in trenchless services and using cutting edge and environmentally friendly materials and processes in everything from roads to pipelines,” she said.
On today’s project, Spartan is working hard at international and regional airports in Indiana and Kentucky to help and support logistics development throughout the state.
Spartan has two offices in Northern Kentucky and a regional office in South Carolina.
