Suspect wanted in multiple commercial theft cases

Memphis, Tennessee (WMC) – The Memphis Police Department is investigating multiple incidents of commercial vandalism on Friday and Saturday, according to police.

Police responded to a burglary at City Gear at 2926 Lamar Avenue at 8:40 p.m. Friday.

Police said officers were patrolling the area when they saw several cars parked in front of City Gear. As officers approached the vehicle, several people in dark clothing got into their vehicle and fled the scene, traveling west onto Lamar Boulevard.

Officials found damage to the business’s front glass door, windows and gates, but no one entered.

At the scene, mall security personnel approached and said the suspect threatened to kill her and that they were carrying guns.

Security personnel left the scene before police had more information.

The unidentified suspects were driving a dark Chevrolet Tahoe, a green, black and gray Dodge Charger, a red Chevrolet Camaro, a gray and black Nissan Sentra and a black Nissan Altima.

The estimated value of the loss is US$5,000.

Police responded to a business robbery at Urban Outfitters at 2151 Central Avenue at 8:50 p.m. Friday, according to the MPD.

Officials received an anonymous call that several individuals armed with bats had entered the establishment.

Police said officers arrived on scene to notice that the store’s side windows had been smashed.

The manager was unable to say how many items had been taken when he arrived at the scene, but said he would follow up with investigators once the inventory was complete.

According to the MPD, police reported a business theft at Hibbet Sport at 3685 Hickory Hill Road at 10.10pm on Friday.

Police arrived at the parking lot and observed approximately 20 cars and SUVs with no tags or temporary TN tags driving away.

When police approached the building, the front door was completely gone.

Once inside, the police saw that the store had been ransacked and several items of clothing had been stolen.

According to police, the manager arrived at the scene at 10:39 p.m.

A white pickup truck, possibly a Ford with a nylon strap, was forced into the building based on video surveillance, police said.

Police again responded to a burglary at City Gear at 2926 Lamar Avenue at 12:15 p.m. Saturday, according to the MPD.

Officers arrived at the scene and found several vehicles in front of the business, and as officers approached the suspect’s vehicle, they fled the scene, heading east on Lamar Boulevard.

Officers noticed the store’s front glass was shattered and merchandise was scattered throughout the store.

The manager arrived at the scene and told officers that several shoes and clothing valued at $15,000 to $20,000 had been stolen and that the suspect had compromised the security camera system.

Officials were unable to view the video footage due to the damage.
