Jacksonville, FL – A teenager was found with a gunshot wound in the Arlington area late Tuesday night and was taken to the hospital where he is expected to be fine, Jacksonville police said.
Police received two calls about the shooting just before 11 p.m. Tuesday, according to the sheriff’s office.
The teenager was found on University Avenue north of the Arlington Freeway, but the shooting occurred 3 miles away on Crane Avenue in the Greenlee/Grove Park area.
Witnesses told JSO investigators that a light-colored car pulled into the parking lot of a business on Crane Avenue and someone got out and started shooting the teen before leaving the scene and driving west on Crane Avenue.
Detectives are still talking to witnesses and victims to determine a motive, but investigators say they believe it was an isolated incident.
The teenager was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. It is unclear how the teenager got from the scene of the shooting to where he was found on University Avenue.
Anyone with information about the shooting can call the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office at 904-630-0500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
