Thakur calls on young people to embrace technology, upskill themselves to be country’s growth engine

Information and Broadcasting Union Minister Anurag Thakur has called on young people to embrace new technologies, build strong networks, upskill, upskill and reskill as the growth engine of the country as India is the growth engine of the world.

Addressing the graduation ceremony of Om Sterling Global University, the Minister said that the holistic learning experience through the multidisciplinary approach of the New Education Policy (NEP) is a pillar of national development.

Thakur added that India is the third largest startup country in the world. “Universities and educational institutes should upgrade sports infrastructure to engage young people actively in the Healthy India movement emphasizing ‘Fitness Ka Dose, Aadha Ghanta Roz’. As part of the G20 Indian Presidency program, youth conferences will also be held there .”

He said 750 “Yuva Samvad” were being organized in the country.

During the graduation ceremony, 815 students were awarded degrees and diplomas; 184 students in 15 undergraduate majors and 426 students in 59 postgraduate majors received degrees respectively.

In addition, 178 students from 14 diploma courses were awarded diplomas. 3 students from each department won the gold medal, and 8 students received certificates of merit for their outstanding academic performance.

Thakur also runs a community radio station 90.0 ‘Bhavyavani’ at the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Om Sterling Global University. The station also broadcast the minister’s speech at the event.

The union minister also visited Doordarshan Kendra and All India Radio in Hisar and reviewed their operations.
