The 50th Annual American Music Awards took place Sunday night at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
The show is produced by Dick Clark Productions and ABC and is hosted by Wayne Brady.
The star-studded event celebrates the year’s best music and performances as voted by fans.
Puerto Rican performer Bad Bunny topped this year’s list of nominees with eight nominations, including his first-ever Artist of the Year award. He ended up winning two awards – Favorite Latin Male Artist and Favorite Latin Album for “Un Verano Sin Ti”.
However, the night belonged to Taylor Swift, who won all six categories she was nominated for, including Artist of the Year, the night’s top honor. The victory cemented Swift’s status as the most awarded artist in AMA history, with 40 career wins.
Performers on the AMA stage included opener Pink, as well as Dove Cameron, Lil Baby, Bebe Rexha, Carrie Underwood, Imagine Dragons and more.
Lionel Richie, a 17-time AMA champion, has been honored with an Icon Award for his professional contributions to the music industry. Artists such as Charlie Puth and Stevie Wonder offered heartfelt tribute performances to Richie.
The show announced some of the winners ahead of its airing.
Elton John became the longest-recognized artist in the show’s history with his first AMA Award since 1988 for his best collaboration with Dua Lipa. (He was first nominated for an AMA in 1974.)
