A new Casey’s convenience store and gas station is opening on Indianapolis Avenue near Cabela’s in Hammond. It is currently under construction and is close to the entrance of the Cabela’s and Super Walmart superstores which have seen many new commercial developments in Hammond along the Borman Highway in recent years.
“They were delayed, but started again,” said Anne Anderson, director of economic development at Hammond.
Founded in 1968, Iowa-based Casey’s has grown to more than 2,400 locations.
It’s known for its sandwiches, snacks, breakfast items, and especially its sought-after pizzas. Casey’s, which offers pizza delivery, is actually the fifth-largest pizza chain in the U.S. in 2021, despite operating in only 16 states.
It has locations in Northwest Indiana, including Dells, Griffith, Crown Point, Valparaiso, Hebron and Lowell. It’s especially popular in more rural communities like Remington, DeMotte, and Wheatfield.
