UNM Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation Center of Excellence hosts technology and facility demonstrations

new research and innovation The Center of Excellence (COE) in Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation will be featured at the University of New Mexico Orthopaedic Technology and Facilities Showcase, scheduled for Thursday, October 2. 13 at UNM Health Sciences Rio Rancho campus from 9 am to 4 pm.

The one-day event will showcase orthopaedic-focused techniques, as well as roundtable discussions on how design thinking tools can help translate ideas and research into clinical practice solutions. There will also be a tour of the facility, which includes clinical spaces, research laboratories and a physical therapy unit.

Douglas Ziedonis, MD, MPH, Executive Vice President, Health Sciences and CEO, UNM Health System, will deliver the keynote address.

Other speakers include Jamie Silva-Steele, RN, MBA, President and CEO, UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center; Elizabeth Kuuttila, CEO and Chief Economic Development Officer, UNM Rainforest Innovations; Christina Salas, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation, UNM ; Dustin Richter, MD, Assistant Professor of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation and COE Administrator Hilary Hoekenga, MBA, MHA.

The event is co-sponsored by COE and UNM Rainforest Innovations.
