France will face Morocco in Wednesday’s semi-final, having beaten Portugal earlier on Saturday.

France striker Olivier Giroud didn’t flinch when he got close to goal early in the game.

A few minutes later, Giroud tried again with a header, but it was saved by England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
17′: Sweet Strike
Midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni was the early star of the game, scoring a goal for France.

France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris made crucial back-to-back saves as England attacked – first by defender Luke Shaw and then by the England captain Harry Kane – Keep Three Lions Leave the board.
With Saturday’s start, Lloris became the most capped player in the history of the French men’s national team (143).
Kane, meanwhile, was spared a penalty for the challenge as he struck again near the net moments later.
Kane had another shot at 29 and it was again saved by Lloris, this time in the top right corner.
France were leading 1-0 going into half-time, but not before Antoine Griezmann received his first yellow card of the game in the 43rd minute.
47′: warm up
Ousmane Dembele was booked in the first minute of the second half, but that did little to disrupt France’s rhythm. Lloris went on to play one fine game after another, saving Jude Bellingham’s shot.
Things took a turn for the better when Bukayo Saka fouled inside the box at the start of the second half. Kane scored from the penalty against his Tottenham team-mate Lloris in their first game in five-and-a-half years.
54′: Harry Kane equalizes for England!
Kane scored a penalty kick to tie the score at 1-1. With this goal, Kane tied Wayne Rooney with 53 goals and became the player with the most goals in the history of the England men’s national team.

Giroud stepped forward at the critical moment, scoring a header late in the second half to give France a 2-1 lead.

80′: what could be
England were awarded a second penalty, this time following a VAR review and Theo Hernandez was shown a yellow card.
Kane scored his second penalty against club team-mate Lloris, but this time he missed the net entirely.
In this way, the French team maintained a 2-1 lead.
90’+11′: off the assembly line
It was all thanks to England’s Marcus Rashford, who had just entered the game in the 85th minute. He was awarded a free-kick in the last minute of Saturday’s game, but his shot was a little too high and missed the net.
And just like that, France went on to secure victory, becoming the first defending champions to reach the semi-finals since Brazil in 1962!

Saturday’s game is the third World Cup match between the two countries, with England winning the previous two in 1966 and ’82.
However, France have lost just one of their last eight meetings with England – a friendly in November 2015.
